ABA School-Based Season is operated by volunteers- not the schools. Parents are responsible to get their child to games and practices and help work games and concessions. Parents should offer positive support to coaches, players and officials.
Basketball Tryouts: will be held 3 days the week beginning September 27, 2010. The times and days of tryouts will be determined by the coach and announced at school. Twelve players will be chosen for each team, and the teams will be announced at the end of tryout week.
Cheerleader Practices: Wednesday, Sept. 15 and/or Friday, Sept. 17 -at 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at North Middle School. All students trying out should attend a least one practice to learn the cheer and routine. Tryout times will be announced at practice. Do not arrive early.
Cheerleader Tryouts: will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at North Middle School. The times will be announced at practice. Twelve cheerleaders will be chosen for the squad, and the 12 girls chosen will be announced after their school has completed tryouts. The cheerleaders will be fitted for uniforms on Saturday. It is the cheerleaders’ responsibility to buy shoes, etc.
1st game: October 16. Season will continue through November 21. Cheerleading Exhibition: Saturday, November 20.
Students will play two times a week during the regular season, usually one weeknight and Saturday. Students are only eligible to play at the school where they tried out. To tryout for a team, a player must be officially registered at that school. To be eligible a student must be 11 or younger before 8-1-10. Students can play ball and cheer if they make both teams.
The purpose of the All-American Basketball Association (ABA) is to provide and promote the opportunity or young boys and girls to participate in an organized basketball program which promotes learning, sportsmanship, physical fitness and leadership through athletic competition.
